Lenny & George images a musical dialogue across time, where the lyricism of Gershwin’s Tin Pan Alley songplugger roots meets with the sophisticated complexity of Bernstein’s command of the orchestral medium. This new three-movement piece of Americana is an affectionate tribute to their legacy but also a musical tug-of-war conversation between these two great icons of American music.

Written in three movements (1: Tin Pan Alley, 2: Nadia, 3: Tanglewood), this entirely original work explores their distinct musical personalities in a rapid-fire back-and-forth. Fans of Bernstein and Gershwin, and 20th century American music in general, will find numerous “inside baseball” references in this fresh new score celebrating the two composers.
