I was commissioned to write a new logo for satellite TV provider DirecTV. The logo is short — only six seconds long — but a tremendous amount of time goes into finding, choosing, and blending sounds until the overall effect works. I actually wrote three different versions of this logo (each completely different from the others) so as to give DirecTV some options as well as explore different approaches. I often don’t know which works best until I’ve tried a few different options and can then sit back and compare them to see what conveys the brand best.
