I Shall Know Why

I Shall Know Why: a choral setting of Emily Dickinson

My latest choral composition is a tone poem for SATB choir a cappella, a sensitive setting of a poem by Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) entitled “I Shall Know Why.”

I shall know why-when Time is over–

And I have ceased to wonder why–

Christ will explain each separate anguish

In the fair schoolroom of the sky–

He will tell me what “Peter” promised–

And I–for wonder at his woe–

I shall forget the drop of Anguish

That scalds me now–that scalds me now!

The score of this composition is available for purchase for $9.99, which includes unlimited reproduction rights for one choir/conductor/director to perform the piece in a season. An important career PSA for my fellow musicians: tell people about your passions. Tell people about your goals. Do not be shy about the gigs you dream about. You never know who has the ability to put you on a path that accomplishes them, if they were made aware.

I'm just saying, the incredibly useful Recut video cutting tool is on sale today. This has saved me untold hours of tedious manual labor:

This video is a masterclass in taking "I don't have any inside info, but the next Mac will be faster and have more cores" and stretching it to 11 minutes.
