Sung Outside the Prince’s Door

Edward MacDowell (December 18, 1860 – January 23, 1908) was an American composer and pianist from the late Romantic period. A New Yorker, best known for To a Wild Rose and his second piano concerto, MacDowell is not often performed and, some would say, now forgotten in the annals of music history.

As a child, I learned this beautiful simple tone poem for piano, Sung Outside the Prince’s Door, and decided to record it. It’s available on all the major music services:
